eBook Reader is less sophisticated than the tablet that has laptop technology. But eBook Reader prepared to read a book with the advantages of using e-Ink technology. It turned out to read, people prefer to use eBook Reader.
The proof, between November 2010 and May 2011, ownership of ebook readers in the U.S. doubled to 12 percent, took over the tablet.
Such is the finding of the Pew Research Center, which noted that devices like the Amazon Kindle have experienced strong growth to surpass their tablet rivals.
Tablets, such as the Apple iPad and the Motorola Xoom, were owned by seven per cent of adults in January, rising by one percentage point in May. Nine per cent of people own an eBook Reader but not a tablet, while three per cent own both devices.
Meanwhile, five per cent of individuals have a tablet computer, rather than an ereader. It would also appear that demand for mobile devices is climbing. The study found that for the first time in the US, laptops are just as popular as their desktop counterparts.
One thing most people did not like was the fact that most e-books needed to be read on their computer, and they could not sit and relax in the comfort of their home where they pleased. However, in 1998 the soft book reader was distributed as a eBook Reader alongside Rocket eBook.
People were now more comfortable and adapting to reading e-books, yet it still did not seem to be getting the attention it deserved. Part of this problem was the fact that eBook Readers were more expensive than most could afford or were willing to pay; the other problem being there was not a wide array of books being covered by e-books and eBook Readers.
A company named Gemstar purchased both the soft book reader and the Rocket eBook and began to promote their own version of a eBook Reader. In 1999 there was a step up, and a eBook Reader called the eBookman was introduced that could play and record sounds.
Things didn't really take off for eBook Readers until 2007 when Amazon introduced the Kindle in the United States. One of the most amazing things about this device was that you did not have to mess with credit cards and payments because the device had wifi capability and linked directly to your Amazon account.
The Kindle really began to soar in 1999 when Jeff Bezos went on the Oprah show, and with him he had a Amazon Kindle. Oprah said that the Kindle was her new favorite gadget, and shortly after the show the Kindle was out of stock until the release of the Kindle 2. Later Amazon would develop the Kindle DX, which has the ability to read PDF files among other perks.
